WATCH : Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany Mahomes are founders of the groundbreaking NWSL franchise.

Brittany Mahomes became a founding partner of the Current in 2020, along with Palmer Square Capital Management’s Angie and Chris Long.

The move sees Mahomes, 27, add to an investment portfolio which also includes other local major league teams: Sporting Kansas City in Major League Soccer (MLS) and Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Kansas City Royals.

Mahomes is the latest NWSL investor from the NFL, following the likes of Eli Manning, who acquired a stake in the NJ/NY Gotham last year, and Chicago Bears lineman Michael Schofield, who is a co-owner of the Chicago Red Stars. Brittany Mahomes and husband Patrick are co-owners of the Kansas City Current. The NWSL expansion team was born in 2021. The couple, along with former Eagles star Chris Long, are owners of the franchise and are frequently seen at games.
