Back when she was still a teenager back in 2008, pop sensation Taylor Swift wrote a lyric about dating a player on the high school football team. But now that she’s dating Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce, she can’t help but smile when she sings the lyrics during her performances.
The Taylor Swift song “Fifteen” was released in 2008 – when she was 19 years old – as part of her Fearless album. In it, Swift reminisces about dating relationships throughout high school from the eyes of an older person who has been through it all already.
The song includes the lyric “In life, you’ll do things greater than dating the boy on the football team,” which is obviously a bit ironic, considering Swift is now dating football star Travis Kelce.
During this weekend’s series of concerts in Lyon, France, Swift performed the song with that lyric for the time since she began Kelce, and she couldn’t help but laugh when she reached that point in the song.
Obviously, Swift has indeed accomplished greater things than simply dating a guy on the football team – she was perhaps the most famous woman on the planet long before she began dating Kelce – but it’s still a humorous lyric in the context of her new relationship.
