Travis Kelce’s first Christmas Day with his girlfriend Taylor Swift didn’t go exactly as planned.
The NFL player spent December 25 on the field with the Chiefs, while Swift cheered from a VIP box at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium.
Although Kelce’s team would go on to win their second consecutive Super Bowl two months later, they were beaten by the Las Vegas Raiders 20-14 during the holiday game.
‘We got our a** beat by the Raiders on Christmas. F***ing ruined Christmas, motherf***ers,’ he said during an appearance on Tuesday’s episode of the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast.
‘Those dudes were ready to brawl out there on the field. 100% man. And I love that s**t,’ he went on.
‘I was like, man if we play with that kind of edge, or that kind of toughness, that kind of like don’t f**k with us mentality, we won’t be stopped. And it just kind of ended up like that but that Raiders game was definitely a turning point.’
Earlier in the conversation, the athlete admitted his ‘aggression’ went up a notch throughout the season, particularly heading into the playoffs.
‘With the Chiefs it got to that point in the season where it was like “man I don’t think we have the right like mentality to attack a team from the jump, ready to have barfight,”‘ he told the Barstool Sports co-hosts.
‘And I felt I had to bring that into everybody’s mentality and sure enough, everybody didn’t love seeing that side of me in the playoffs … but at the same time I felt like it was making our team better.’
After the Christmas Day game, Swift and her family headed to Kelce’s Kansas City mansion where they all celebrated the remainder of the holiday together, Mail Sport previously reported.
Since then, the world’s most high-profile celebrity couple have gone from strength to strength; enjoying a host of trips away and nights out together, meeting the families and supporting each other in their respective fields.
Just last week, Kelce jetted to London to support Swift during the London stop on her Eras Tour, even joining his girlfriend up on stage at Wembley Stadium.
And during an appearance on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast, the Chiefs tight end revealed what it’s like dating the most famous singer on the planet.
‘You want to keep things private, but at the same time, like, I’m not here to hide anything. That’s my girl, you know what I mean? That’s my lady, so it’s like… I’m proud of that,’ Kelce said on the podcast.
‘I’m not sitting here trying to juggle like, “how can I keep this under wraps?” You just don’t want to let everyone into your personal life and be able to comment on it, knowing that everything she does is getting a headline.’
He also revealed the most surprising thing about dating the Cruel Summer songstress, explaining, ‘[Paparazzi] has been the craziest thing. Definitely the pulling up to the house, the just random, I don’t know.
He went on, ‘It’s a different demographic than the NFL, so it’s been cool to dabble in that and see her following and everything. It’s been fun because a lot more kids are into the game and the Chiefs fans have turned into a lot of her fans. And her fans have turned into Chiefs fans, so I’ve had fun with every aspect of it.’
