By India Today Web Desk: World number 1 Iga Swiatek has been eliminated in the semi-finals of the WTA Finals after losing to Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka. The Polish tennis star lost 2-6 6-2 1-6 to Sabalenka to be knocked out of the tournament.

he Belarusian tennis player will now meet number 6 seed Caroline Garcia for the WTA Finals singles trophy.

With this win, Sabalenka became only the third player to win against the world number 1, 2 and 3 in a tournament in the 2000s. Only Serena and Venus Williams had achieved the feat before her.
