WTA Draw confirmed for 2023 Madrid

The draw has been confirmed for the 2023 Mutua Madrid Open which will take place between April 25 – May 7, 2023 and acts as one of the main warm-up tournaments for the French Open.

Iga Swiatek is top seed off her Stuttgart run and could face Emma Raducanu in the second round in Madrid.

 

 

Ons Jabeur is the current defending champion but may be an injury doubt despite appearing in the draw. She will face either Ana Bogdan or Anna Bondar. Aryna Sabalenka is second seed and faces either Sorana Cirstea or Lauren Davis. Coco Gauff takes on either Kaia Kanepi or Shelby Rogers.

 

 

Jessica Pegula could face Jasmine Paolini, while Elena Rybakina could face Czech prodigy, Brenda Fruhvirtova.

Off winning Oeiras ITF, Danka Kovinic could take on former Roland Garros winner, Barbora Krejcikova as Bianca Andreescu will make a return only weeks after her terrible injury in Miami.

Elina Svitolina is also in the field, with Paula Badosa also one of the top names after a good week in Stuttgart and playing on home soil
