Tom Brady vs Patrick Mahomes: how many times have they faced each other?

Week 4′s meeting between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs will be the first time that these two have faced each other since that fateful Super Bowl LV matchup.

Both teams are 2-1 and looking to bounce back after Week 3 losses. Two of the NFL’s premier quarterbacks will square off for only the sixth time that the two have looked at each other across the sidelines.

Their most famous meeting was in Super Bowl LV, which saw Brady and the Bucs hand Mahomes and the Chiefs a stunning 31-9 loss. The Bucs defense was the only one in that entire season who could stop the juggernaut of Kansas City’s offense, and it also laid to rest the claims that Brady was simply a system QB.

Super Bowl LV: Buccaneers vs Chiefs

Long before quarterback Tom Brady chose this season to leave the New England Patriots for the Buccaneers, Tampa Bay had been selected as host city for Super Bowl LV but the future Hall of Famer ensured he would own another line in the history books after leading his team to a 31-26 win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday in the NFC title game.

“We’re coming home, and we’re coming home to win,” said Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians, as Tampa became the first team to host and play in a Super Bowl, a record that the Rams have now surpassed by not only hosting and playing, but winning when they beat the Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.

The Buccaneers returned to the Super Bowl for the first time since winning the Lombardi trophy in 2003 while Brady saw his 10th appearance in the championship game lead to an amazing seventh ring.

For Kansas City, it was their second straight trip to the Super Bowl.

Career comparison:
Brady: 64.0 Comp%, 267.0 Pass YPG, 7.4 Yds/Pass, 2.93 TD-INT Ratio, 96.5 Pass Rtg
Mahomes: 66.2 Comp%, 301.7 Pass YPG, 8.1 Yds/Pass, 4.16 TD-INT Ratio, 106.0 Pass Rtg

Since this game, both quarterbacks and teams have rebuilt, with Tampa Bay changing coaches and Kansas City upheaving much of their personnel. Both teams look strong, though not nearly as dominating as they once were. Now the question is can these two quarterbacks lead their teams to victory even when the odds are not stacked in their favor?
Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, competing at the highest level, but where did they each play college football?
