The tennis champ recently gave birth to her second child with husband Alexis Ohanian, Serena Williams just updated her maternity wardrobe with a little help from Gucci.
The tennis superstar repped the Italian fashion house in photos posted to her Instagram today. Posing against floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing a picturesque tropical landscape, Williams showed off her growing baby bump in a cozy knit set composed of a cropped turtleneck top and a miniskirt. The two-piece featured horizontal stripes in shades of dark green, mint, and yellow. It additionally included the brand’s interlocking G logo in a matching shade of mustard across the torso.
Williams kept her accessories to a minimum, simply opting for a delicate gold wristwatch from Audemars Piguet. “I’ve been waiting a long time… for this moment to come…. I’m destined for anything at all,” the athlete captioned the post. Some of Williams’s A-list pals praised her newest maternity look in the comment section. Paris Hilton left an emoji: “????.” Naomi Campbell similarly expressed her love for the outfit by commenting, “❤️❤️❤️.”Ohanian confirmed Adira’s birth yesterday in an Instagram post.
“Welcome, Adira River Ohanian,” he captioned a picture of the family of four. “I’m grateful to report our house is teaming with love: a happy & healthy newborn girl and happy & healthy mama. Feeling grateful. @serenawilliams you’ve now given me another incomparable gift — you’re the GMOAT. Thanks to all the amazing medical staff who took care of my wife & our daughter ???? I’ll never forget the moment I introduced @olympiaohanian to her baby sister.” The couple welcomed Olympia in September 2017.
Williams opened up about her desire to expand her family in an emotional essay published last year about her retirement from tennis. “I have never liked the word retirement. It doesn’t feel like a modern word to me. I’ve been thinking of this as a transition, but I want to be sensitive about how I use that word, which means something very specific and important to a community of people. Maybe the best word to describe what I’m up to is evolution,” she wrote at the time. “I’m here to tell you that I’m evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me. A few years ago I quietly started Serena Ventures, a venture capital firm. Soon after that, I started a family. I want to grow that family.”
