William and Kate have released a photo of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis watching England’s Euro 2024 final clash against Spain.

The siblings are in England shirts with their names and ages on the back.

Behind them the match, played in Berlin, can be seen on TV.

Spain won the game 2-1 with a late winner in the Olympiastadion.

In a post on X, the Prince and Princess of Wales said: “England, your teamwork, grit and determination were an inspiration to all of us, young and old. Congratulations to Spain. W & C.”

Prince William

Last night William, who is president of the Football Association, said: “This time it just wasn’t meant to be. We’re all still so proud of you.”

The King also sent a message, saying: “Although victory may have eluded you this evening, nevertheless my wife and I join all my family in urging you and your support team to hold your heads high.”

He added: “But please know that your success in reaching the European Championship final is a really great achievement in itself, and one that brings with it the pride of a nation.”

Harry Kane, the England captain, said on Monday he was “heartbroken we couldn’t achieve what we worked so hard to”.

In a post on X, he said that “ultimately we fell short of our target and will have to live with that”.

He thanked fans who “believed in us and supported us to the very end”.

The England players looked calm but resigned as they boarded the team coach in Berlin this morning.

Emerging from the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Berlin, players and coaches were clapped out by watching fans and staff as they made their way to the team bus, taking them to the airport.

Manager Gareth Southgate waved to those watching amid speculation over his future after successive defeats in Euros finals.

After going behind, his men levelled against Spain with an exquisite shot from substitute Cole Palmer.

But Spain’s Mikel Oyarzabal broke England hearts with a winning goal in the 86th minute.
