National Football League (NFL) star and Super Bowl LIV Champion, Patrick Mahomes, has joined the ownership group of Major League Soccer’s (MLS) Sporting Kansas City.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, who led the team to back-to back Super Bowl appearances, is also a minority-owner of the Kansas City Royals Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise since July 2020.
No valuation has reported for Mahomes’ investment in Sporting Club, the MLS franchise’s ownership group.Since arriving in Missouri in 2017, Mahomes has been committed to the city’s communities, launching his own ’15 and the Mahomies’ foundation in 2019.
Having signed a ten-year, over US$500 million contract extension to stay with the Chiefs in 2020, the star quarterback is now involved with multiple Kansas City sports teams. His fiancee, Brittany Matthews, is also a co-owner of the National Women’s Soccer League’s (NWSL) Kansas City franchise.
