Norma Hunt, wife of Kansas City Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt, died Sunday at the age of 85. Patrick Mahomes took to Twitter shortly after the news broke to express his love and support for the only woman to attend every Super Bowl.
Mahomes, 27, is responsible for two of the organization’s three championship rings, so it’s safe to say his relationship with Norma was excellent, but his condolences prove that to be true.”Mrs. Norma was the best,” Mahomes tweeted. “Glad to be a part of this special organization she helped build. She will be missed! Prayers to the entire Hunt family.”
Calling her “Mrs. Norma” is evidence of the respect, yet familiarity, Mahomes had with Hunt, who is survived by her son Clark and grandaughter Grace, among others.Norma’s streak of attending every Super Bowl in league history poetically comes to an end with her team on top.Mahomes added a broken heart emoji and prayer hands to his tweet to express his emotions of sadness.
If the Chiefs reach another Super Bowl in the few coming seasons and manage to win, it’ll definitely be for Norma, who was described by her son as the most passionate sports lover besides his father.Norma was there every step of the way when Lamar helped merge the AFL and NFL, and for the creation of Major League Soccer. She will always be remembered as one of the responsible parties for the success of American sports.
