Seoul, South Korea – Hollywood icon Tom Cruise is set to make a surprising appearance on Run Jin, the solo variety show hosted by BTS member Kim Seok-jin, known as Jin. The news, first shared by @viraltakes on X, has sparked excitement among fans of both global stars, marking a rare collaboration between Hollywood and K-pop.
According to industry insiders, Cruise participated in the recording of Run Jin during his recent promotional visit to South Korea for Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning, the eighth installment in the blockbuster franchise. The actor arrived in Seoul on May 7, 2025, accompanied by director Christopher McQuarrie and co-stars Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Pom Klementieff, and Greg Tarzan Davis. This visit, Cruise’s 12th to Korea, included a press conference and red carpet event for the film, which is slated for release in Korea on May 17, 2025.
Run Jin, a spin-off of BTS’s popular variety series Run BTS, premiered in August 2024 following Jin’s discharge from mandatory military service. Airing weekly on BTS’s YouTube channel, BANGTAN TV, the show features Jin engaging in adventures, challenges, and activities, often with celebrity guests. The episode featuring Tom Cruise is expected to be a highlight of the series, blending the high-energy charm of K-pop entertainment with Cruise’s action-star persona.
While Cruise appeared solo on Run Jin, other Mission: Impossible 8 cast members participated in various Korean content during the promotional tour. Director McQuarrie joined Master’s Talk alongside Korean director Choi Dong-hoon, while actors Simon Pegg and Greg Tarzan Davis featured on Epik High’s YouTube channel. These appearances, set to be released around the film’s premiere, underscore the growing trend of Hollywood engaging with South Korea’s entertainment industry.
