Hilary Duff is Women’s Health US’ May/June cover star. For her turn fronting our American edition, the former Lizzie McGuire actress, now 34 and a mother of three, chose to pose totally nude, sharing in her accompanying interview how she got to a place of ‘peace’ with her body.
‘I’m proud of my body,’ the actress told WH US. ‘I’m proud that it’s produced three children [son Luca, 10, and daughters Banks, 3, and Mae, 1] for me. I’ve gotten to a place of being peaceful with the changes my body has gone through.’
When asked when it was that she arrived at that calm place, Duff observed: ‘Perhaps after having Banks [with musician husband Matthew Koma]. I didn’t even know if I was going to have the opportunity to have another child [after her divorce from retired hockey player Mike Comrie, Luca’s father].
‘So, being a mom again, maybe. It was a whole mix of things—of being settled and realising that I’m powerful and talented and smart. All mental things.’
When it comes to the shoot, she is keen to be upfront about the work that went into the stunning photos that have come out of it. ‘I also want people to know a makeup artist was there putting glow all over my body and someone put me in the most flattering position,’ she notes.
In the months leading up to the shoot, Hilary started working with a new trainer, Dominic Leeder. He’d join her in her garage for hour-long workouts four days a week. They stuck to routines that emphasised strength and stability to concentrate on lean muscle mass.
