After the Indian Wells performance, Pegula and Gauff decided to try the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami. However, things didn’t work as expected by the American tennis prodigies. Their match was against the doubles wild card players, Ashlyn Krueger and Sloane Stephens.
Both Stephens and Kruger performed well from the beginning by continuously breaking Gauff and Pegula’s serves.After that, Krueger and Stephens established a solid 5-0 lead against the American WTA stars. While they lost a break after this, the duo still managed to win the first set by 6-3. In the second set of the game, Pegula and Gauff established a two-break lead for winning the second set. In the third set, a tie-breaker was needed and the American WTA stars lost by 8-10 against Krueger and Stephens.
