London Fashion Week kicked off at the end of last week, bringing with it a handful of celebrities, editors, and talented designers to the country’s capital.
But this Fashion Week is a more modest affair than usual, with the timing coinciding with the nation’s mourning period following the passing of Her Majesty.
Out of respect, many designers either postponed or cancelled their shows, and all events due to take place on the biggest day of the week, Mega Monday (19 September) – the same day as the state funeral – were paused. For the shows that went ahead, there remained a mindfulness about the need to be “respectful”, designer Nensi Dojaka tells Vogue.
Dojaka is a recent graduate from Central Saint Martins and, in just a few years, has become one of the most anticipated collections of fashion month. And this season’s offering held strong, with A-list model, Emily Ratajkowski even cameoing at the designer’s latest show.
