Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has impressed NFL fans, media members and opponents with an array of on-the-money deep balls, no-look passes and left-handed throws since entering the league.

So much so, that anytime Mahomes throws an interception or makes a bad play, the NFL world is forced to remember that he is still mortal.Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy spoke about Mahomes’ dazzling performance on Sunday night football against the Las Vegas Raiders, revealing Kansas City’s arrogant expectations for the star signal-caller.

Not to sound arrogant, but our quarterback should throw five touchdowns every time he takes the field for a game against the best the NFL has to offer. In all seriousness, the elite ability of Patrick Mahomes on the football field makes Kansas City’s somewhat arrogant expectations of him seem plausible.

Even when Mahomes, who is approaching his previous career-high with 10 interceptions this season, struggles to dissect NFL defenses the way he has at times this season, there’s still a certain standard he’s held to by NFL fans.

Mahomes’ early success in his career– An NFL MVP award, 50 touchdown passes in a season, and a Super Bowl win, as well as a Super Bowl MVP award- can almost work against him in this regard, sometimes. For the Chiefs to make the NFL playoffs and make a run at the Super Bowl, they’ll need Patrick Mahomes to meet their elevated expectations on a weekly basis. They’ll need Showtime Mahomes.
