At 40 years old, the singer is facing harsh reproach for touting the mission as environmentally beneficial, particularly in light of her previous remarks and activism regarding global warming coming back into focus, reports the Express US.
As a former UNICEF goodwill ambassador, Perry delivered a report on climate change in 2015, where she declared that human-induced climate change was “hurting children around the world”.
“Today, we’re seeing more extreme weather everywhere, and as a California girl, I’m not the only one experiencing drought,” Perry stated in a video that has recently resurfaced, adding fuel to the current situation.
