Simone Biles’ history-making performance in Paris has prompted fans to dig out her viral picture alongside Shaquille O’Neal.
Back in February 2017, the 4ft 8ins gymnast posted a photo with the NBA legend, who stands at 7ft 1ins.
‘Hey Shaq,’ Biles wrote alongside the picture, in which she barely reaches the midriff of the former basketball star.
The picture went viral at the time and it has now resurfaced after Biles won a fifth Olympic gold in the gymnastics team final on Tuesday.
One fan re-posted the picture on social media and wrote: ‘During her floor routine, the top of (Biles’) head got to 12ft above the floor.
‘That means she can jump over Shaq. I guess people really can fly’
Biles, already the most decorated gymnast of all time, drew a host of A-listers to Tuesday’s final in France, with Bill Gates, Spike Lee and Serena Williams among those spotted in the stands.
The 27-year-old won a first Olympic gold since Rio 2016 as the American team cruised to victory with an peerless score of 171.296.
She is now officially the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history, having secured her eighth medal – one more than Shannon Miller.
Hours after the win, Biles’ husband Jonathan Owens toasted his wife’s success. The pair posed for pictures as he wore the gymnast’s medal.
‘Witnessing history every time you step on the mat,’ NFL star Owens wrote on social media.
‘Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!!’
‘Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful I was there to see it.’
