Meghan Markle Mocked for Leaving Her Dad Alone in His Final Days.
Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, is facing intense backlash following Lady Colin Campbell’s surprising move to support Thomas Markle, Meghan’s estranged father. The long-time critic of Meghan set up a GoFundMe fundraiser for Thomas just four days after his 80th birthday.
Lady C’s fundraiser, titled “Lady C celebrating Thomas Markle Sr’s 80th birthday,” calls on the public to show solidarity and provide the acknowledgment Thomas deserves.
In the appeal, Lady C praised Thomas for his generosity and kindness, particularly emphasizing his contributions to the film community and Meghan’s education. However, she also criticized Meghan for abandoning her father.
The fundraiser’s description reads: “Many people have suggested that I spearhead this fundraiser to meaningfully note Thomas Markle Sr’s 80th birthday.
He has been exceedingly generous with his time and money over the years, as I have learned from the teachers at his daughter’s school, who could not sing his praises highly enough.
His kindness and generosity are well known in the film community, and I agree that now that he has been rejected and abandoned by his daughter, those of us who wish to show him solidarity and give him the acknowledgment he should be getting from the actual recipient of his largesse will hopefully, through our contributions, no matter how small, demonstrate to him that there are still people in the world with good hearts, good values, and good intentions. Hopefully, our actions provide him with the comfort he deserves in more ways than one in his declining days.”
Since its inception, the fundraiser has raised over £3,300. Despite the support, Thomas celebrated his 80th birthday without any contact from Meghan.
Reflecting on his milestone, Thomas told the Mail: “I’ve had a good life and I am proud of what I’ve accomplished, but everything has been overshadowed by what has happened in the last six years. I’ve never been one for birthdays, but I know the one person I most want to hear from, Meghan, won’t be in touch.”
The relationship between Meghan and her father deteriorated after he staged paparazzi photos before her wedding to Prince Harry. Health issues, including two heart attacks, prevented Thomas from attending the ceremony and walking Meghan down the aisle. Since then, the Sussexes have not communicated with Thomas, and he has never met Prince Harry or his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet.
